Gillaneh GrillHouse - Downtown

Gilaneh serves incredible rice dishes and that alone separates them from competitors in this cuisine. Think of this place the next time you plan on carb loading because the variety of flavours and textures across the different rice dishes will keep things interesting as you heap spoonful after spoonful. In the entree section, they have the Mix Tahdig, which is a crispy rice with lentil and olive stews. An absolutely stand out dish and showcases why we love the way they cook their rice. A further variation on their rice came in the form of this incredible dried pomegranate, yellow/white rice mix used in one of their main dishes (simply) named the Chicken Leg. The sweet and tangy flavour of the fruit complements the well seasoned chicken and soft, fluffy rice. To round out the mains, we also ordered the Soltani Kebob which is a beautifully grilled combination of 1) fillet steak and 2) a ground beef Koobideh. The sweetness of the onions and the spices in the meat really shone through and the juices were neatly soaked in the rice, which again was amazing. Keep in mind that the portion size of individual dishes are larger than average. Two mains and an entree was on the plentiful side for our group of two. We took leftovers home that easily became another lunch for one.

Absolutely loved our meal at Gilaneh! We had the Koobideh and the Vaziri, and both were phenomenal. The meat was tender, juicy, and full of flavor — perfectly seasoned and grilled just right. The saffron rice was fluffy and aromatic, and the grilled tomato added that perfect touch of sweetness. The portions were generous and the presentation was beautiful. Service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Can’t wait to come back and try more dishes. Highly recommend!

By far the best Persian restaurant in town. Their food is incredible. I can't choose between their Special Kebab and Shank Special, so I often order both! :D The food quality is consistently excellent and authentic. The atmosphere is nice and cozy, perfect for both casual dinners and special occasions. The staff are friendly and attentive, ensuring every visit is delightful. The manager, Mr. Saeed, always checks to make sure all customers are well taken care of, adding a personal touch to the exceptional service. Highly recommended!

I loved this place. Mojgan was our server and she was the best. We had a Birthday and we got a cake after our meals, they put a birthday song and everyone starter dancing. It was epic

Generous serving. Flavorful and yet simple. The Barberry chicken pilaf has a very refreshing taste. The chicken is succulent and flavorful, chicken is very tender and cooked in a fragrant infused tomato stew, accompanied by fluffy basmati rice topped with tangy barberries. the barberries add a burst of sourness tartness, creating a harmonious contrast with the savory elements.! Highly recommended.

Everything was perfect! The service was good. We ordered Koobideh and Fesenjoon (I didn’t take pic from Fesenjoon) and Zeytoon parvardeh. They were so delicious and well cooked. Zeytoon parvardeh was mixed with pomegranate and it was soooo good. Really recommend this restaurant.

Here’s a positivGilaneh is hands down one of the best Iranian restaurants in Vancouver, and we’ve been going there regularly! The quality of their food is consistently excellent, with authentic flavors that truly capture the essence of Persian cuisine. Everything is always fresh, perfectly cooked, and absolutely delicious. The staff are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and customer-oriented, which makes every visit such a pleasant experience. This time, they even brought us complimentary tahdig, which was such a thoughtful and delightful surprise. It’s little gestures like this that set them apart and show how much they care about their customers. The only downside is that their prices have gone up quite a bit recently, which is unfortunate. However, considering the exceptional quality of the food and the warm atmosphere, it’s still worth it for a special dining experience. Highly recommend Gilaneh for anyone craving top-notch Iranian food in downtown Vancouver!

I had a fantastic experience at Gillaneh GrillHouse - Downtown. The food quality is top-notch, especially the Tahdig served with stew—crispy, flavorful, and beautifully presented.
